Mental Health Occupational Therapist

Ellie is a compassionate and dedicated mental health occupational therapist with experience working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults and seniors in various acute and community healthcare settings across Australia and internationally, including Zambia and Vietnam.

She is passionate about helping individuals achieve optimal mental wellness and regain independence in their daily lives. Ellie delivers high-level clinical services based on evidence-based occupational therapy (OT) assessments and treatment services to individuals with complex physical and mental health conditions. She is committed to empowering individuals to overcome challenges, develop coping skills and enhance their quality of life through meaningful engagement in everyday activities.

In addition to her clinical work, she has participated in clinical research, presenting at state-wide and interstate conferences and published articles on the use of sensory modulation and falls prevention.

Her other special interest areas/areas of experience include:

  • Trauma-sensitive mindfulness skills for PTSD
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Trauma-informed counselling
  • Group therapy

Ellie is a fully qualified yoga teacher specialising in Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) with the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at the Justice Resource Institute and holds a graduate certificate in Yoga Therapy. Ellie integrates her knowledge of the mind-body connection with her experience as a mental health practitioner. Ellie seeks to support participants of all backgrounds, bodies and identities.

What she loves most about being an OT is the opportunity to find creative and recovery-oriented ways to provide innovative trauma-informed care to people. She prides herself on maintaining a person-centred and empathetic approach to everything she does.

Ellie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of South Australia (2013).

Ellie is based in Moreton Bay and also supports clients nationally via telehealth.
