Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Briana has worked in paediatric private practice for 10 years. She graduated with first class honours in Psychology and then went on to complete a Master of Occupational Therapy. She has since been working with children and their families to provide family-centred therapy.
Briana’s background in psychology has provided her with a foundation in understanding the psychosocial issues families can experience when supporting a child with special needs. From this, Briana’s approach to therapy is to collaborate closely with the family and to provide support in all facets of the family dynamic to help empower and motivate the child.
Briana has experience working with children who have:
· Developmental and motor delays
· Sensory processing issues
· Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
· Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
· Social and emotional challenges
· Difficulties with play skills
· Self-care challenges including toileting, sleeping and feeding.
Briana is passionate about building solid rapport with the child and their parents, as well as drawing on the child’s interests through play to foster engagement. She delights in celebrating any amount of progress along the child’s therapy journey.
Outside of work, Briana enjoys spending time with her husband and two little girls. She is also a self-proclaimed coffee snob who loves to try out the latest trending brunch café.
